Have you ever sat across a person on the subway and wonder what’s their story? Have you ever peered into a building and see that every window has a different life? Everyone lived today differently. I have this feeling I’d have to live 1000 different lives to fulfill my passions and empathy for others.
My name is Mariam Yar (she/her) and I’m an Afghan-American actress currently based in New York City. I’m originally from Danville, California, but I call New York home. I’ve been performing since the age of 5 and always knew I wanted to be involved in the arts. My goal as an artist is to authentically tell stories through performance. Growing up, I never saw someone who was also Middle Eastern on stage or on screen, therefore I hope to illuminate Middle Eastern representation within American media and entertainment. I am working towards a BFA in Drama at NYU Tisch, wrapping up my 3rd year of training in the Atlantic Acting Studio and emerging into my first year with NYU Experimental Theatre Wing. I’m very grateful to be honing my craft among such incredible peers and mentors. Looking forward to making magic with you!
